Crime Fiction and the Olympics: A Quiz

This is my 100th post since I started blogging in September last year and to celebrate I’ve compiled a quiz. Thanks to Margot at Confessions of a Mystery Novelist, who has provided the crime fiction community with some killer quizzes in the past, for giving me the idea.

After much build-up and anticipation, the 2012 Olympics are well under way in London. After a dire start to the British summer we are also seeing some sunshine for the first time. The photo below was taken when I was in London before either the Olympics or the fine weather had arrived.

Sport isn’t a particularly well-mined subject for crime fiction. I sometimes wonder if this is because writers simply don’t like sports, or whether us readers feel the same way. But there are some exceptions and I have managed to find books that feature either the Olympics or sport in their plots.

Click on the link of tower bridge below to start the quiz and good luck. I hope it’s as much fun to complete as it was to compile.

  1. Thanks, I managed 70% which is not bad since super expert Margot got 80! Thanks for the fun quiz – great questions – and congratulations on the 100th post.

  2. Congrats on 100 posts Sarah. I failed the quiz miserably – I had to guess at answers for all of them and only got 3/10 right! It was fun though!

  3. Thanks for the fun quiz Sarah. I got 4 right so definitely ‘could do better’! I enjoyed it though. Congratulations on reaching your posts milestone.
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog too. I really appreciate it.

    • Thanks Lindsay. I’m glad you enjoyed the quiz. I do regularly read your blog as it is on my feed. It’s nice to read some reviews of non-crime books too.

  4. Congratulations on the first 100 posts and best wishes for the next 100!
I didn’t do as well on this quiz as on others (ahem), but I haven’t read several of these series. I’m not as well versed in series set in Britain as in the U.S.

    • Thanks Kathy and well done on the quiz. You’re right there was a slant to the British Isles with the questions. I intend to make my Christmas quiz much easier!

    • Thanks for doing the quiz! I think I should have made the pass mark 60% as lots of people got this result. Will take a look at your book in September (August is my catch-up month).
